Home remedies · Stomach, gut & nausea
No home remedy here replaces treatment, and none is talked down. What has done good for generations does good — even if no one ever measured it. Where something is well studied, it says so. Where it is only experience, it says that too.
One to two tablespoons of ground linseed or a tablespoon of psyllium husks with at least 250 ml of water, once a day.
The husks bind water and make the stool soft and bulky — the gut gets something to move.
It works after two to three days, not immediately — anyone expecting instant effect stops too soon.
Without enough fluid they can block the gut instead of loosening it. Not with narrowing in the bowel. Keep an hour’s gap from medicines.
Do not treat yourself: strong, increasing or suddenly starting abdominal pain, a hard belly, blood in the stool or black stool, vomiting blood. With diarrhoea it is fluid loss that counts — dry tongue, little urine, drowsiness. In children and older people this happens faster.
