🍫 Catching a craving

No home remedy here replaces treatment, and none is talked down. What has done good for generations does good — even if no one ever measured it. Where something is well studied, it says so. Where it is only experience, it says that too.

What you do

First a large glass of water and ten minutes of waiting. Then something with protein or fibre, not sweet things alone. Regular meals through the day prevent it.

Why it is plausible

Cravings often follow long gaps and fast sugar peaks. Protein and fibre keep blood sugar flatter and the urge subsides.

What it cannot do

It does not replace a meal and does not answer whether the craving comes from lack of sleep, stress or an eating pattern.

When to leave it

A craving with shaking, sweating and confusion is something else — that needs measuring. Likewise craving with strong thirst and frequent urination.

When it is no longer a home remedy

When it is no longer a home remedy

Do not treat yourself: strong, increasing or suddenly starting abdominal pain, a hard belly, blood in the stool or black stool, vomiting blood. With diarrhoea it is fluid loss that counts — dry tongue, little urine, drowsiness. In children and older people this happens faster.
