Home remedies · Stomach, gut & nausea
No home remedy here replaces treatment, and none is talked down. What has done good for generations does good — even if no one ever measured it. Where something is well studied, it says so. Where it is only experience, it says that too.
Small portions rather than meals, something every two to three hours. Cold often tastes better than warm. Drink between meals rather than with them, or the stomach fills up.
A small plate is less off-putting than a full one, and frequent small amounts add up to more over the day than a meal left untouched.
It does not answer why the appetite is missing — and that is the real question here.
Loss of appetite with unintended weight loss, lasting weeks, or with pain, needs medical assessment.
Do not treat yourself: strong, increasing or suddenly starting abdominal pain, a hard belly, blood in the stool or black stool, vomiting blood. With diarrhoea it is fluid loss that counts — dry tongue, little urine, drowsiness. In children and older people this happens faster.
