No home remedy here replaces treatment, and none is talked down. What has done good for generations does good — even if no one ever measured it. Where something is well studied, it says so. Where it is only experience, it says that too.

What you do

Catch up on sleep, cut back caffeine, take screen breaks. A warm flannel on the closed lid for a few minutes.

Why it is plausible

The twitch usually comes from an overtired, overstimulated small lid muscle. It stops when the triggers go — often within days.

What it cannot do

Magnesium is often suggested; it is not established for this. And you cannot press the twitch away.

When to leave it

If the twitch spreads over half the face, if the lid closes and will not open, or if it lasts for weeks: have it checked.

Get seen at once: the sudden, worst headache of your life, headache with fever and a stiff neck, with weakness, speech or vision trouble. Likewise dizziness with double vision or an unsteady gait. Sleeplessness over weeks with loss of drive is something to discuss, not to endure.
