💇 Hair loss: what is possible at home

No home remedy here replaces treatment, and none is talked down. What has done good for generations does good — even if no one ever measured it. Where something is well studied, it says so. Where it is only experience, it says that too.

What you do

Treat it gently — no tight ties, less heat, a wide comb on towel-dry hair. Have ferritin, B12 and thyroid values measured. And three months of patience.

Why it is plausible

After fever, surgery, childbirth or major weight loss, hair often falls two to three months later — and usually grows back.

What it cannot do

No shampoo and no oil makes hair grow back. What is possible at home is looking for the cause and avoiding added pull and heat.

When to leave it

Hair loss in round bald patches, with redness, scaling or scarring, or progressing very fast, belongs with a doctor.

When it is no longer a home remedy

When it is no longer a home remedy

See a doctor: wounds that gape, bleed heavily or are deep, bite wounds, burns larger than your own palm or with blisters on the face and joints. Likewise redness spreading quickly, especially with fever. And any mole that changes.
