Home remedies · Stomach, gut & nausea
No home remedy here replaces treatment, and none is talked down. What has done good for generations does good — even if no one ever measured it. Where something is well studied, it says so. Where it is only experience, it says that too.
Enteric-coated capsules so they open only in the gut — usually one capsule before main meals over some weeks.
The oil relaxes the smooth muscle of the gut wall. For pain and cramping in irritable bowel it is among the better-studied plant remedies.
It works on the symptoms, not the cause, and not in everyone. Without the enteric coating it lands in the stomach and causes heartburn there.
Not with heartburn and reflux, not with gallstones, not in small children. And irritable bowel needs assessment first, not an oil.
Do not treat yourself: strong, increasing or suddenly starting abdominal pain, a hard belly, blood in the stool or black stool, vomiting blood. With diarrhoea it is fluid loss that counts — dry tongue, little urine, drowsiness. In children and older people this happens faster.
