Home remedies · Skin, wounds & stings
No home remedy here replaces treatment, and none is talked down. What has done good for generations does good — even if no one ever measured it. Where something is well studied, it says so. Where it is only experience, it says that too.
Leave small blisters closed and cover with a blister plaster; pierce large, tight blisters at the side with a disinfected needle, leaving the skin on top.
The blister roof is the best dressing there is — sterile, exactly fitting and made by the body itself. That is why it stays.
It does not remove the cause: pressing shoes, folds in the sock, moisture.
With diabetes or circulation problems never pierce it yourself. With spreading redness, pus or fever get it looked at.
See a doctor: wounds that gape, bleed heavily or are deep, bite wounds, burns larger than your own palm or with blisters on the face and joints. Likewise redness spreading quickly, especially with fever. And any mole that changes.
